So I called the building company again today to try and figure out when they can install the building. They said they’re running about 8-10 weeks on delivery. So I’ve already been waiting almost a month…That means…another month and a half probably. This.hurts.so.bad. But for now, I have a cool photo shoot location.
Once the footing was poured I dug out the entrance ramp/ patio.
Then I compacted the ground, and laid down a vapor barrier.
10 TONS of gravel was brought in. Which I leveled all by myself in about 5 hours. Anyone who thinks the Pyramids had to have been made by aliens seriously underestimates the power of man.
Once the gravel was down, I rolled out the wire. Also put in an expansion joint between the shop front and patio.
Next thing ya know it is 5:30am and the slab is getting poured! Don’t worry, I remembered to get it inspected first,
Now I need to schedule a day for the building to come get installed.
There was finally another big step made on the new shop today. I got the footing poured. Lots of work, a few lessons. All-in-all, a super fun and educational day.
Here are some fun pics of Marty and I moving the mud around.
Don’t worry, we won.
So the lesson of the day was that concrete is HEAVY and it wants to push OUT very badly! So don’t listen to your inspector that says the forms will hold. Reinforce the crap outta those suckers. Anyway after 3 pours one after another, we got it all filled up. Not a cheap day for me…Oh well, moving forward! Tomorrow I will try to get the slab forms up so we can pour that in a few days. Shouldn’t be long now!
Officially started construction on the shop yesterday! First I placed the order for the new building, then I rented this tractor.
And got digging!
Have you ever played the claw game at Denny’s? To win something for your lady of course…cough cough… This is just like that except you win every time! You win, you win…dirt. I won so much dirt I didn’t know what to do with it…So I made dirt bike ramps 🙂
My dad came by for a bit and helped me square it up…I showed him how to run the best claw game ever.
After putting over sever hours of run time on the tractor…I am finished…with step one.
Digging a hole…
Now I need lots of ply wood and rebar for forming. Hope to have the slab done within 2 weeks. Apparently it is really hard to get concrete right now. Busy season I guess.
So I got approval from the planning commission finally. Immediately submitted the building permit. Hopefully I’ll have that by early/ mid next week. Then I can order the building and get started on the slab! I’d love to have this thing up before September…We’ll see.
