Finished this bike awhile back now, just going to stick some pics on here of the final product. I rode it daily for over a month, LOVED this bike and never had a problem with it! A gentleman from Texas bought it and has been having trouble with it ever sense. Sad story…Since I can’t help him out from a state away…
That’s right, since I’ve been away I got my first dog! I got her from a rescue shelter at 8 weeks old. A true MUTT! The best of dogs! Her name is Frelly, and I love her almost as much as motorcycles 😉 This was a little while ago, she is about 7 months old now…
OKAY! enough cuteness…For now.
I took the front end off an XS650 to utilize the shorter/ larger diameter forks, disk brake, and 18″ wheel. While I was at it I replaced the triple tree bearings with some tapered bearings from allballs. I had a spare set for a yamaha virago that just happened to fit! yippy!
So this is the donor bike I got for cheap.
This is the poor thing after it got the XT500 front end. Someone actually bought this in the shape you see it in…Couldn’t believe it.
And here she is with the conversion…sadly I had no pics of the bike with the original 21″ front wheel and long dirt bike shocks…darn.
Picked up this XT500 a few weeks ago not running and title-less in Tulsa for a reasonable price. Great start to a fantastic build I’d say!
I stripped it down to the frame, cleaned (or replaced) every nut and bolt, and painted everything a new color.
Bought some new parts, chain, sprockets, brakes, fork seals, gaskets, headlight and tail lights, air filter, bla bla bla.
As of now, I have the motor re-installed, and it is time to reassemble!
That’s what I’ve got so far, today I’m focusing on rebuilding the front forks, polishing the fork boots, cleaning, painting, and mounting the front wheel. pics will ensue.
Got a tattoo! I think it is going to be with me for awhile. My best friend Ryan and I got them together (sounds totally straight…right?) Anyone know what it is?
(The above picture should give you a hint) Shortly after I got mine, and my dad finally came to terms with it…HE GOT ONE TOO! Of something he loves equally as much…A goat…?
That is it for body mutilation in the Henschell’s family…for now.
The shop has been done for about 8 months now and the concrete floor has seen many bikes, quads, and maybe even a car soon?! It is nothing fancy, but I will be starting my next shop build soon on a half acre I recently started clearing out. Now that will be fun! Some shop photos attached below.
