Okay so this one is going to be a treat. It’s my first bike getting a powder coated frame! And several other parts… So here is the bike the day after I got it, I’ll try to find some of it before I started the strip down.
So just to get caught up to where I am right now on it, here are some things that I’m doing right now:
frame and extra parts are back from powder coating, I know it looks prime’d in the picture but in real life it looks like a metallic grey mica color. Going to look cleeeeeean I hope!
Here is the painted wheels, gotta give props to my man Kevin! The paint is SLICK! He painted lots of parts, fork boots, wheels, drum brake cover, disk brake spokes, etc etc.
So this is the gas tank situation…The monster it came with is on the left…and yes it has green and yellow flames on it…yikes! On the left is the promising gas tank given to me by Sam Speltz. Hope I can make it work because I love the lines! It was removed from a xs400. Yes…a Yamaha tank on a Honda! I know! But hey, I’ll put a Honda emblem on it if that helps.
One little issue with the new tank…
It has no bottom! Actually I cut it out because it was too narrow for the CB back bone. So I bought 4’x8′ 18 gauge sheet metal and plan on hammering out a new bottom, then tack weld it in place, and solder it for a sealant…(fingers crossed!)
Here is the motor, hiding under the work table. It’s pretty clean and I don’t know that I want to polish the cases for the look of this bike…But who knows.
